We're Not Married! (1952) is an American romantic comedy film released by 20th Century Fox. The featured was directed by Edmund Goulding. When elderly Mr. Bush (Victor Moore) is appointed justice of the peace, he starts marrying couples on Christmas Eve. However, his appointment is only valid on the first of January. Two years later, this issue becomes known, when one of the six couples he married files divorce. To avoid a bigger scandal, the remaining five couples are informed that they are not really married. The film then shows how the couples react on the news:
  • Couple #1: is Steve Gladwyn (Fred Allen) and Ramona (Ginger Rogers), a husband-and-wife radio team whose huggy-kissy behavior on the air conceals the fact that they'd dearly love to cut each other's throats.
  • Couple #2: consists of stay at home father Jeff Norris (David Wayne) and his Beauty contest-happy spouse Annabel (Marilyn Monroe), who's just won the "Mrs. Mississippi" pageant.
  • Couple #3: is Hector Woodruff (Paul Douglas) and Katie (Eve Arden), who ran out of things to say to each other long ago.
  • Couple #4: is the kind millionaire Freddie Melrose (Louis Calhern) and his gold-digging young bride Eve (Zsa Zsa Gabor), who intends to divorce him and make off with his millions.
In the end, all but Couple #4 get remarried. A sixth segment, starring Hope Emerson and Walter Brennan as an Ozark backwoods unmarried couple, was deleted before the film's release.

Biography of Shirley Temple

I already did a biography of Shirley Temple here on Dazzling Divas http://dazzlingdivas-ladivas.blogspot.nl/2011/09/shirley-temple.html

Shirley Temple Dead at 85

Former childhood movie star Shirley Temple has died, her agent confirmed in a statement to ABC News.
She was 85.
Temple -- known in private life as Shirley Temple Black -- died Monday night at her home near San Francisco, surrounded by her family and caregivers, according to the statement.
Temple is best known for her doe-eyed turn in numerous 1930s films, including "Bright Eyes" and "Curly Top," roles that allowed her to showcase a special brand of energy and optimism for a country enduring the Great Depression. She started dancing at age 2 and acting at 3.
By the time she was 5, she was stealing the show. In 1934, she was awarded a special miniature Oscar for her outstanding contribution to the silver screen.

She led the box office for three straight years. A drink was named after her. Children copied her curls. A doll in her likeness became a collector's item.
Eventually, as she aged, her Hollywood popularity declined.
At 17, she married John Agar, but the marriage didn't last.
Her second marriage, to San Francisco businessman Charles Black, endured -- and allowed her to enter the world of politics. She served as U.S. ambassador to Ghana and to Czechoslovakia.
Her survivors include three children, a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
